    Description

These are a beautiful set of Unique Chinese art, hand sewn, gold threaded, silk pieces framed in matching gold and black speckled wood frames.  Various styles of this artwork was sewn on doilies, clothing, wall hangings, and other items.  I would consider these pieces of art to be doily like in size and style.  The beauty of these hand sewn works is that no two will ever be the same, you can be assured both of these pieces are one of a kind.  There are others that will be of like style or pattern, but the variations of hand sewing make them beautifully unique.  The finch backing is an off-white color and the swan backing is white.  The contrast is visible in the photos.
To the best of our research these would have been sewn in the early 1900’s to as late as 1960’s.  We do know these two elegant pieces were professionally framed by William & Daphine Gawin at their Gallery of Fine Arts, “La Galeria” in Casa Grande, AZ. (as shown by tag in photo).  The Gawin’s opened this gallery in 1973 and closed in 1980, so we can easily date when these works were framed.  The green finch is a wall hung works, and the blue crane has a stand-up backing.  Not sure if this table top mount was original or changed later.  Either way, these would make a wonderful addition to any room.
The only visible issues I see are the edges of each frame show some minor marks, which appear to be from age and possibly rubbing the wall.  These are not major marks and are very difficult to see without close inspection.  Any other visible imperfections are inside the framing and on the art itself which I would not consider damage, just the uniqueness of the custom framing.
